The Pre-Natal Chart Reading Guide
If you have never had a natal chart reading with me before, it may be helpful to read through this post. It isn’t mandatory to know anything about astrology when you get a reading but familiarizing yourself with some terms first can help the reading be extra amazing!
What is a Natal Chart?
A natal chart, also known as a birth chart, is a map of the sky at the exact moment and location of a person's birth. It is used in astrology to interpret an individual's personality, life events, and potential challenges and opportunities. The chart is divided into twelve sections called houses, each representing different areas of life such as career, relationships, and home. Key components of a natal chart include:
The Planets: Each planet represents different energies and aspects of a person's life. For example, the Sun symbolizes the core self, the Moon reflects emotions, and Mercury governs communication.
The Signs: The zodiac signs (Aries, Taurus, Gemini, etc.) indicate the characteristics and qualities that influence the planets and houses. Each sign has unique traits and ways of expressing energy.
The Houses: The twelve houses correspond to different life areas, such as self-identity, finances, communication, home, and career. The position of planets in these houses provides insights into how and where planetary energies manifest.
The Aspects: These are the angles formed between planets, indicating how they interact with each other. Major aspects include conjunctions, oppositions, squares, trines, and sextiles. They can signify harmony, tension, or significant life events.
Interpreting a natal chart involves analyzing the interplay of these elements to provide a comprehensive understanding of an individual's astrological influences.
What is a Transit?
Transits involve the current positions of the planets in the sky and how they interact with the positions of the planets in an individual's natal chart. Transits are used to predict and understand current events and future trends. Key points about transits include:
Current Planetary Positions: Transits are based on the real-time movements of the planets.
Interaction with Natal Planets: The positions of the transiting planets form aspects with the natal planets, influencing various areas of life.
Timing: Transits are temporary, lasting from a few days (for fast-moving planets like the Moon) to several years (for slow-moving planets like Pluto).
For example, if transiting Jupiter forms a favorable aspect with your natal Sun, you might experience growth, optimism, and opportunities in your life during that period.
What is a Progression?
Progressions, particularly secondary progressions, are a symbolic method used to reflect personal growth and inner development over time. The most common form of progressions is the "day-for-a-year" method, where each day after birth corresponds to a year of life. Key points about progressions include:
Symbolic Time: Progressions are based on the idea that the movement of planets in the days following your birth symbolizes your life over many years.
Inner Development: Progressions reflect internal changes, psychological growth, and personal evolution rather than external events.
Slow Movement: Progressed planets move very slowly, so the effects are subtle and long-lasting.
For example, if your progressed Moon moves into a new sign, it might indicate a shift in your emotional focus and needs over the next few years.
See you soon!
